What to expect on your first visit!
Upon arrival, clients are asked to complete an intake form allowing the therapist to begin the evaluation process. The client is directed to the therapy room to be interviewed and any pertinent medical records are reviewed.  Then a series of orthopedic and/or kinetic tests are performed to fully determine to plan of care to be implemented.

The therapist leaves the room while the client undresses to the point of comfortablity and lays down on the massage table under a cover sheet. The therapist re-enters the room shortly thereafter.  Treatment per the plan of care is performed and may utilize a number of modalities to include: deep soft tissue manipulation, trigger point therapy, Muscle Energy Technique (MET), hydro/cryotherapy, sports massage techniques and/or Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF).

The treatment is concluded and the therapist steps out of the room while the client redresses.  A home exercise program may be reviewed and implemented following treatment.

Increasing water consumption is highly recommended following all treatments as it helps the body flush out any accumulated materials in the muscles which were released during the massage otherwise, they might build up, causing muscle aches and soreness after a massage.  Always let the therapist know of any increased soreness following each session so adjustments can be made to future treatment plans.

Medical Massage
Medical Massage is an outcome-based, physician-directed, and scientifically grounded healing modality. As with physical therapy sessions, medical massage sessions are prescribed by a physician for specific issues including post-surgical rehabilitation, and are limited to a physician-designated course of treatment.

Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is also outcome based, as described above (prescription not necessary). This multidisciplinary approach facilitates the prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions, chronic pain and sports injuries.
